On March 10 we are showing at an “Audience Choice Screening” for the New York City Downtown Short Film Festival. The idea is you go along, watch four or five shorts and vote for the one you want to see in the festival. Democracy. Screening is at the Duo Theatre at 62 East 4th Street in the East Village (the address is poetry enough). Book here. I also have a couple of comps since I’m going to be here in rural Dorset, not in NYC (let it go). If any NYC O&Jers want to go, drop me a line I will fix you up through the organiser, the poetically named Michelangelo Alasa.

Walter, Frederick

Walter Frederick invented the Frisbee. Walter Chalkley on the other hand is the director of The Frederick Film Festival 2010. Oscar & Jim is playing in the festival (March 26 and 27) as part of a really interesting selection of films including The Messenger, 35 Shots of Rum and the original cut of The Blair Witch Project - which was shot in Frederick (for European readers, Frederick is in Maryland). Good luck and good wishes to Walter for a successful festival.

Here’s a real anchovy, looking like one of those lonesome Goya pictures of bream. It was part of my lunch one day last week. Meanwhile the Anchovy Pictures website is up - nothing fancy, just the facts. We’ll be ironing out a couple of glitches and also aiming to get the site for Truth Beauty - the new movie - up next week too. This is Deep Breath territory but we are doing it - planning to shoot next summer.

A Day at the Graveyard

A very nice thing has happened to Oscar & Jim. Somebody has written a song for us/about us/inspired by/adjacent to us. Not just somebody but in fact, recording artist Pimpernelle, aka the Mogul, aka A.K. Benedict. The song is called ‘A Day at the Graveyard’ and it completely gets Oscar & Jim and actually, totally rocks. We have a heard demo and are, at the moment, at the choked up/deeply touched stage. Other stages will follow but we don’t know what they are - having never had a song written and performed and recorded for/about/inspired by/adjacent to us before. Pimpernelle, thank you.
